Dak's Ship (final render)

Another concept piece for Black Magic--The viking/sorcerer submarine. I knew I needed to work on my vehicle concept skills so I started with some thumbnails of Dak's ship and let a poll on facebook decide which one won. In the end I vetoed the vote and did this one because it's not like anyone is paying me (hahaha *cries*). 

Then I decided to choose the most difficult way to render it that I could possibly imagine and that's how I came up with this crazy half-submerged camera angle. This is probably the most complicated thing I have ever attempted to paint and BOY was it fun! Even though there are a few flaws I'm really pleased with how it turned out. Is it photo-real? Nah. Does it look cool? Hell yeah.

This ship was designed for a very wealthy and powerful sorcerer who prefers to move through the world unseen, but it doesn't show up until chapter 9 so I'll shut up and avoid too many spoilers. 

Photoshop CC + Intuos Pro, 10-ish hours, referenced a lot of half-submerged photos for lighting/color details and pics of submarines.
